No load shedding is expected so far on Friday, but there is still a possibility that it could be set over the weekend.
Eskom announced on Thursday that it does not intend to put any load on Friday after South Africans escaped interruptions this past week.
However, the power provider said the system remains vulnerable and load shedding can be set at short notice any time over the weekend should there be any change.
“The generating system has shown a lot of recoveries,” Eskom said in a statement.
Unplanned power outages stood at 11 182 MW at 16:10 on Thursday with planned maintenance work at 4 774 MW.
Consumers are warned to use electricity sparingly.
