Morongwa Marakalala was reported missing at 5:30 pm on May 5. Senwabarwana police in Seshego in Limpopo and community members immediately launched a search.

Brig. Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo said residents of the Silvermine settlement burnt down the home of a 63-year-old woman last Monday because they believed she was involved in Morongwa’s disappearance. They accused this woman and her family of witchcraft.
Mojapelo said 13 suspects were subsequently arrested on arson charges. They are expected to appear again in Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where they can formally apply for bail.
Lt. Genl. Limpopo provincial commissioner Nneke Ledwaba expressed his displeasure over the brutal murder of the child. He instructed the police investigation team to detect the killers as soon as possible.
“I warn community members not to take the law into their own hands, but rather to assist the police in their investigation to locate the culprits,” Ledwaba said.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits can contact investigating officer Albert Manaka on 082 414 6634 or the crime line on 08600 10111.
