Police officer’s body and burnt out car found

North West police constable’s body was found on Wednesday after he went missing when he was apparently on his way to visit his sister.

Art. Thato Makhoana, 26,’s body was found along the road in the Slurry area outside Mahikeng around 6pm. It appears he was shot several times.

“According to our information, Makhoana indicated on Wednesday morning that he was going to visit his sister in Zeerust,” said Brig. Sabata Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, said.

A Missing person case was lodged at the Mahikeng police station after Makhoana did not arrive in Zeerust or answer his cellphone.

His burnt-out Toyota Corolla was later found in Majemantsho in the Lomanyaneng policing area. Makhoane was linked to Mmabatho police.

Lt.Gen. Sello Kwena, the provincial police commissioner, strongly condemned the murder of Makhoana. He expressed his condolences to Makhoana’s family and colleagues.

Police have implemented its 72-hour activation plan to apprehend Makhoana’s killer (s).
