Three suspects, aged between 28 and 43, are expected to appear in Vosman Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of possession of suspected stolen diesel.
The three people were arrested in Witbank on Monday.
Capt. Lucy Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the directorate for priority crime investigations (the Falcons), said officers received information that the two suspects were allegedly in possession of diesel that was stolen from Transnet’s pipeline in Mpumalanga and the Free State.
“At the suspects’ address, the team came across two trucks full of diesel, worth R1.4 million, and a generator,” Sekgotodi explained. “Further investigation also led to an empty petrol tanker and several containers containing diesel.”
The investigation continues. Further arrests cannot be ruled out.
