Johannes Willem Gieselbach (45) was sentenced to prison after he was found guilty of stealing more than R2 million from a care center for disabled children and adults.
According to lt.col. Falcon’s spokesperson Philani Nkwalase was sentenced to eight years in prison in the Commercial Crime Court in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
Gieselbach was convicted in February of more than 160 charges of theft. Between May 2018 and August 2019, he stole almost R2 million from the Aurora care center while he was their bookkeeper.
“The investigation revealed several illegal negotiations during which money was paid into various bank accounts,” Nkwalase said.
Gieselbach was also ordered to repay more than R980 000 to the center.
