An SACP leader, Siyabulela Siswana, 44, and his six-year-old daughter were killed Wednesday night at their home in Mfuleni, Cape Town.
According to the SACP, this could possibly have been an assassination.
Siswana was the SACP in the Western Cape’s secretary in the Brian Bunting district.
Brig. Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa says two suspects, whose faces were concealed, attacked Siswana, his daughter, and wife with a firearm in their home that evening. One of the suspects started firing a firearm at the Siswana family.
Siswana and his daughter later died in the hospital in their wounds. Siswana’s 39-year-old wife is currently fighting for her life in a hospital.
Potelwa says detectives are working hard to arrest the two killers. Two cases of murder and one of attempted murder were brought.
“As the investigation unfolds, the motive for the murder will also become clearer,” says Potelwa.
The SACP in the Western Cape expressed its shock over the murder of Siswana. The party called on the police to arrest the killers as quickly as possible.
