The plane crash that occurred earlier Tuesday in the area of Wonderboom Airport, north of Pretoria, claimed the life of a female trainee pilot.
Tshwane emergency services spokesman Charles Mabaso told Maroela Media paramedics were called to the scene in Tumeric Road in Akasia at about 12:56 a.m. after a light aircraft crashed. One person was killed in the incident.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokeswoman Kabelo Ledwaba said a preliminary investigation indicates the deceased was the only person onboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.
According to Ledwaba, an investigative team from the CAA was called to the scene around 13:30 to investigate.
“More details will be announced later,” Ledwaba said.
