Two suspects were arrested this week when the Hawks attacked an illegal abalone processing plant in Grabouw in the Western Cape.
Lt.kol. Falcons spokeswoman Philani Nkwalase said in a statement on Saturday that members of the Falcons and Department of Environmental Affairs attacked on-premises in Oudebrug Street where they found freshly cooked and dried abalone as well as processing equipment.
The estimated value of the plant’s illegal activities amounts to more than R5,4 million, Nkwalase said.
Nkwalase said two men between the ages of 52 and 59 were arrested at the scene.
Both are expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court on Monday.
