Residents of Paris in the Free State finally have electricity again after the town’s power station caught fire earlier this week and villagers have been without power since.
Eskom said in a statement on Friday night that its technical team had restored electricity to the substation at about 18:45. The power provider has now apologized for the inconvenience caused by the fault.
Earlier reported on Tuesday night created a fault in the transformer at the rural Paris substation. This caused the transformer as well as the substation to catch fire. Due to the fire damage done to the station’s control room, the entire town’s power was cut off.
